Golfing, Anyone?

This is a timber rattler killed Saturday, December 1st, when the weather warmed up at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Shelbyville, TN. This is the golf course off Hwy 231 north of Deason. TN

The grounds keeper is holding the snake.

The snake was killed with a "2" iron, on number 8, while a golfer was looking for his ball. This is the only reason I can think why anyone would carry a 2 iron in the bag.

It is by far the biggest rattle snake I have ever seen. Although diamond back rattlers get this big and maybe even bigger, I did not know those timber rattlers reached that size. I have not talked to Ollie, (the green's keeper) about how many rattles it had or it's actual size and length was, but since he is about 5'9' the snake appears to be at least 8 feet long if not longer, and is bigger around than his arms. Wow! By the way, I no longer use my driver or woods. I only use my 2 iron. Plus is doubles as a snake killer. LOL
