Shoe Box Gifts
This is the week that our local Life Care Centers (nursing homes) are joining up with Samaritan's Purse and collecting Christmas shoe boxes for children that might not otherwise receive a Christmas gift.
Here is something FUN to do with your kids or grandkids to get everbody in the mood for a merry Christmas. Turn this into a family Holiday tradition by teaching your children the gift of giving to others. How To Pack A Shoe Box
SO, here is how you get started:
1) Pick out a regular size shoebox.
2) Decide whether you wish to give to a boy or a girl. What about both?
3) Pack with age appropriate small gifts, (toys, school supplies and hygiene items).
4) Include a $7.00 (or more) donation for each shoe box you prepare. (Or you can give online. See the above link to Samaritan's Purse web site.)
5) Decorate and then LABEL your box for either boy/girl (include approximate ages) on the outside of your box.
6) GOOD SUGGESTION: Say a prayer for the child that will receive your shoebox. Also you might want to write a short note and/or include a picture of your family.
7) Drop off for the local Chattanooga/Cleveland area: Secure your box with a rubber band and deliver it THIS WEEK to your nearest Life Care facility.
For all others: "CALL THIS WEEK for locations and dates, 1-800-353-5949 or again refer to the Samaritan's Purse link above. OR, send your shoe box gift to Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 26607.
